Chopin meets Studio Ghibli when Natalya Plays

Australia’s quirkiest pop culture concert pianist, Natalya Aynsley, has recently premiered the follow-up to her successful 2018 production WORLDS CONNECTED: Music from Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Aynsley is delivering another exciting solo concert to Anime and classical music lovers on Saturday 16 November at Elder Hall, Adelaide.

Fans of Studio Ghibli will be treated to a unique blend of Chopin’s Romantic classical style with Joe Hisaishi’s sentimental motifs and unusual jazz inspired harmonies.

In recent years, Aynsley has created a niche for herself through the fusion of classical, film, and games music delivered in a cabaret-style solo performance. Her audience banter is witty and as unique as the tattoo of C sharp minor, her favourite key signature, on her back.

Aynsley is a classically trained performer who once had aspirations to be a composer for video games. Her solo concerts provide her with a creative outlet to combine her classical roots with film and games music. Broadcasting her performances on YouTube and being appointed an ambassador for Madman Anime Festival has helped her to grow her audience of fans from around the world.

The critically-acclaimed Russian-born performer premiered her latest concert in Sydney in August, and Adelaide audiences have one chance to see it in their hometown. Aynsley invites patrons to dress up as your favourite Ghibli character and experience this epic and breathtaking musical hybrid for yourself!

Dubbed by the Sydney Arts Guide as “a unique artist to keep an eye out for”, Aynsley has been winning the crowds over with her quirky sense of humour, inspiring storytelling and technical prowess. You can support Aynsley by booking a ticket to her shows and subscribing to her YouTube channel where a community of 21,000 subscribers enjoy her musicianship.

Natalya Plays Studio Ghibli Chopin Style will be performed by Natalya Aynsley on Saturday 16 November 2019 at 7.30 pm at Elder Hall – Elder Conservatorium of Music. Tickets can be purchased here and more information can be found via the Facebook event here.
