Jennifer Trijo is a Filipino-Australian multi-disciplinary creative based in Adelaide. She holds a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education (UNSW) and honed her craft as a cabaret singer and musician, touring with Skeed Entertainment. She is credited in notable theatre productions as a performer, orchestral musician, composer, and music director.

Jennifer is an actor at ActNow Theatre, a musician in the Nexus Arts Orchestra, a musician in the all-female multi-cultural Counterpoint ensemble, and a voice coach at the Elder Conservatorium of Music training emerging music theatre artists. She has played the role of Baruska, an actor-musician in the Australian production of Once the Musical (Darlinghurst Theatre Company | Black Swan State Theatre Company | HOTA), and has received praise for her performance in the role of Ms. Mendoza in The Deep North, the first African-Australian musical (South Australian Playwrights Theatre). Prior to this, she has performed the roles of Hua Mulan, Pocahontas, and Badroulbadour in Disenchanted (Mad About Theatre), and the role of Kim Alternate in the Australian Tour of Miss Saigon (Louise Withers & Associates | Michael Coppel).

As an orchestral musician and music director she has worked on the theatre productions: RENT (keys 2/guitar 2 – The Lot Theatre); Peter Pan (music director – Adelaide Theatre Academy); Mamma Mia (keys 2 deputy – Northern Light Theatre Company); Mamma Mia (music director/keys 1 – The Metropolitan Theatre Company of SA); A Thousand Cranes (composer/music director – The Gemini Collective); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (keys 1 – Northern Light Theatre Company); Wicked (music director – Adelaide Youth Theatre); and Shrek (music director – Adelaide Youth Theatre).

She regularly collaborates with freelance musicians and artists to create new work. Recent collaborations include Hyoshi in Counterpoint at OzAsia 2022 in which she performed compositions by Satomi Ohnishi on voice, piano, and accordion; Studio Synergy in which she accompanied singer-songwriter Joel Schroeder and visual artist Katie Dridan on piano and vocals; and a variety of events and festivals by Emma Knights Productions in which she performed her original compositions on acoustic guitar, voice, and piano.

Jennifer has written and produced the critically-acclaimed show Someday – a Mindful Cabaret which features her original music combined with spoken word and motivational talks based on mindfulness and psychology. She appeared as a panelist for WellFest Adelaide 2022 to speak about how the arts affects health and wellbeing. She has studied a Diploma of Positive Psychology and a Cert IV in Fitness (Personal Training), and is passionate about how the arts can improve psychological wellbeing.
